Abstract:
Nowadays, air pollution in urban areas is a problem that everyone is aware of. It poses major potential dangers to the living environment and the health of urban residents. The pollutant dispersion in the city depends on the physical/chemical properties, release concentration, source location and the motion field of pollutant diffusion that are functions of the geometric characteristics of the city and the atmospheric conditions. Chimneys are typical architectural features in urban areas. It is thus helpful to study the dynamic characteristics of pollutants associated with chimney discharge and the pollutant transport mechanism in urban areas for quality living environment and public health. In this seminar, I will take a chimney as a case study to review some previous relevant researches and theoretical background. Afterward, I will summarize the future plan for wind tunnel experiments for real urban areas and data analysis methods.
