Abstract:

Second harmonic generation (SHG) is a key branch of nonlinear optics and is widely used to characterize the structure of 2D materials due to its nondestructive detection, high stability, and other advantages. It provides important information for the physical properties and applications of 2D materials and promotes basic research. This seminar focuses on recent research progress on SHG in 2D material structural characterization. Firstly, the principle and mechanism of SHG will be briefly introduced. Afterward, applications of SHG in characterizing thickness, stacking angle, grain boundary, and crystal orientation of 2D materials will be demonstrated. Finally, future research directions will be discussed based on SHG in material characterization.
