Ten HKU projects won top prizes at HK University Student Innovation & Entrepreneurship competition


Ten HKU projects won top prizes at the 5th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.


The Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was organized by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association since 2015. Top winners will have the chance to represent HKSAR and their institutes in national competitions such as "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest in Beijing and China College Students; "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in Hangzhou.


Ten projects from HKU stood out from over 70 projects by other local higher institutions and won top prizes in the competition. Among them, four were from the Faculty of Engineering:


First-place Award

Zhang Yingguang and Holly Kwok Yu Ho (Department of ME)

Project name: Green paper-based aluminum-air battery that can be mechanically rechargeable, flexible and printable (Category: Innovation - Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering)


Second-place Award

Sharif Mohammed Nawaj (Department of EEE)

Project name: Design and Implementation of a practical, compact and low-cost wireless power transfer system (Category: Innovation - Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering)


Ray Z.X. Li (Department of EEE)

Project name: An investment management system based on AI and blockchain technologies (Category: Innovation – Information and Technology)


Third-place Award

Oliver Xu, Carol Chen and Baoheng Zhang (Department of EEE)

Project name: RoboCoach (Category: Innovation – Information and Technology)
