HKU Mechanical Engineering department has very attractive research and teaching facilities on robotics ranging from surgical robotics, ground robotics to flying robotics. The department is delighted to introduce these facilities to the public who are interested. Teachers and students from the Independent School Foundation (ISF) in Pok Fu Lam have visited some of the robotic research laboratories in the ME department on 25th November 2021. Some robot prototypes were demonstrated to the students, involving advanced MRI robotics technologies that can lead to the next-generation surgical devices (e.g. for stereotactic neurosurgery), single-rotor flying vehicles capable to stabilize the flight well, and also multiple ground robots coordinated to achieve a certain goal and. These are examples to showcase how the robotics technologies could change the future and help achieve better lives.
