Prof. Leung received his B.Sc. (Eng.) and Ph.D. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Hong Kong. He worked five years at the Hongkong Electric Co. Ltd. as an environmental engineer before joining HKU in 1993 as a lecturer in Environmental Engineering. Professor Leung is now a full professor of the department specializing in air pollution, renewable energy and energy conservation. He has published more than 300 articles including 150+ peer reviewed journal papers. Prof. Leung is a chartered engineer, a fellow of IMechE, Energy Institute and the Hong Kong Institute of Acoustics. He is also the Past Chairman of the Institute of Energy (HK Branch), and served as an editorial board member of several journals including the HKIE Transaction, Journal of Global Environmental Engineering and internal journal Applied Energy. He was in the board of director of the Friends of the Earth and Asia Pacific Hydrogen Energy Association during the period 2003-2008. He currently serves as a board member of the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency and Hong Kong Institution of Science, and an external examiner of the IVE Engineering Programme. In 2008, Prof. Leung received the Outstanding Earth Champion Hong Kong award in recognizing his contributions in protecting the environment.
