Best Student Paper Awards at ISSIB-II

 

In November 2009, the Organizing Committee of ISSIB-II decided to make 6 awards as follows:

(1)   Best Student Paper Gold Award (one award):

An award certificate plus HK$2,500 (or US$320) for the winner

(2)   Best Student Paper Silver Award (two awards):

An award certificate plus HK$2,000 (or US$250) for each winner

(3)   Best Student Paper Bronze Award (three awards):

An award certificate plus HK$1,600 (or US$200) for each winner

The ISSIB-II Award Selection Committee, which is headed by Professor Nan Huang who is also Chairman of the ISSIB International Committee, evaluated student papers and attended student presentations. After careful deliberation on January 6, 2010, the ISSIB-II Award Selection Committee decided to make the following awards:

(1)   Best Student Paper Gold Award:

Winner: Aya Saito (The University of Tokyo, Japan)
Paper:   Specific Bioaffiniting of Glycoproteins Observed on a Phospholipid Polymer Surface with Phenylboronic Acid Moiety

(2)   Best Student Paper Silver Award:

Winner: Tao Sun (The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong)
Paper:   Fabrication of (Ti, O, N)/Ti Composite Coating on NiTi Shape Memory Alloy via PIIID and its Evaluation
   
Winner: Sumona Sarkar (Drexel University, USA)
Paper: Chondroitin Sulfate Immobilization for the Fabrication of Biomimetic Brush Structures

(3)   Best Student Paper Bronze Award:

Winner: Shih-Ping Yang (National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan)
Paper: The Effect of Ca-P Topography on hFOB Cells Behavior and Initial Adhesion Evaluated by Cytodetacher
   
Winner: Xuefei Wang (Zhejiang University, China)
Paper: pH-Amplified Exponential Growth Multilayers for Surface-mediated Peptide Delivery into Cells
   
Winner: Guicai Li (Southwest Jiaotong University, China)
Paper: Fibronectin Adsorption Behaviour on Metal Surfaces Investigated by Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation (QCM-D) and Immunoassay
